Trade policy is in a state of flux. With the growing importance of China, the change in US policy towards the World Trade Organisation and the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, what should trade policymakers try to do next?
Can they fix the much-criticised but essential role of the WTO? Can they navigate a way through the trade disputes between the US and China? Can the EU, now debating its future trade policy, bridge its internal divisions over trade openness and the fear of a dominant China?
And what of the UK, which is struggling to adapt to its new trading relationship with the EU whilst seeking new markets for its goods and services?
These complex and inter-related questions will be debated by an expert panel chaired by Professor Panos Koutrakos, Jean Monnet Professor of EU Law, City, University of London:
